My name is Isana, and I’m originally from Buriram, Thailand. I moved to Finland when I was 8 years old and now speak fluent Thai, Finnish, and English. This is my first season with Raya Divers, and I’m spending three months as an intern at the Phuket office. I started in November, and my time here has already been an incredible experience.
As an intern, my responsibilities vary. I manage inventory, assist the office team wherever needed, and get to channel my creativity through design projects. I enjoy creating materials in Canva, like snorkeling diplomas for kids and informational charts for the office. It’s a great mix of practical and creative tasks that keeps things interesting.
I discovered Raya Divers through my school in Finland. My teacher shared their internship application with me and mentioned that several of her former students had interned here before. They spoke so highly of the experience—some even returned to work with Raya again—that I knew I had to apply. I loved the idea of working in Thailand and seeing how it compares to working in Finland.
What I love most about Thailand is its natural beauty and the friendliness of the people. The turquoise-blue, crystal-clear waters of Phuket are absolutely stunning, and every time I visit the islands, I feel a sense of excitement and awe.
The best part of working at Raya Divers, though, is the team. Everyone here is incredibly kind, fun, and welcoming. I’ve celebrated my birthday, Christmas, and New Year with the team, and they’ve made me feel like part of a family. Thanks to them, I’ve never felt lonely for a moment.
One of the highlights of my time here has been visiting Raya Yai, which is my favorite trip so far. But the most transformative experience has been learning to scuba dive. For anyone who feels hesitant about trying it, my advice is to start in a pool like I did. Getting used to the equipment and techniques in a controlled environment makes diving in the sea much less intimidating.
Learning to dive has been one of the best decisions I’ve made. It’s completely changed my perspective on life and opened up a whole new world of experiences. I’m so grateful for this opportunity to work in Thailand, connect with amazing people, and discover the beauty of the underwater world.
